Courage Fund Bursary Awards for Nurses & Allied Health Professionals

Q1 What educational programs are eligible for sponsorship under the Bursary Awards scheme?
A1 The Bursary Awards scheme cover Diploma, Bachelor's and Master's degree and PhD courses in the healthcare disciplines.

Q2 What is the value of the Bursary Awards?
A2 The value of the award varies according to the level of study:
Diploma - S$ 5000
Bachelor - S$ 7000
Master - S$ 9000
PhD - S$ 12000

Q3 What are the criteria for application?
A3 Applicants must:
.  Have a minimum of 1 year (Singapore citizens and Permanent Residents) of employment in the healthcare sector
.  Have a good performance record in the previous and present employments (testimonial from the current or last employer)
.  Have the relevant professional qualifications
.  Undertake an area of study related to healthcare

Q4 Can non-Singaporeans apply?
A4 Yes, but the applicant must have worked in Singapore for at least 3 years in the healthcare sector and residing in Singapore during the course of study.

Q5 Are applicants who are partially sponsored by their employers eligible to apply?
A5 Yes. They may be granted an amount to cover the remaining cost of the education, or the full bursary award, whichever is lower.

Q6 Must applicants have a course placement offer at the point of application?
A6 Applicants should have a course placement offer at the point of application. If this is not available, the Bursary Awards Committee may grant an in-principle approval, followed by a full approval when the placement letter is produced.

Q7 What is the validity period for the in-principle approval?
A7 The in-principle approval would be valid for 12 months from the date of award, after which a new application is required.

Q8 Is there a bond attached to the award?
A8 The award recipient will not be bonded but is required to serve a minimum service period of 12 months within the healthcare sector in Singapore.

Q10 How many awards will be available each year?
A10 About 30 awards will be available each year.  The Selection Committee reserves the right to vary the number of awards depending on the quality of applicants.

Q11 Are pharmacists eligible to apply?
A11 Yes, pharmacists are eligible to apply under the Allied Health Professionals category.

Q12 What is the closing date for application?
A12 The bursary awards are open for application is opened from 1 January till 31 March of the year. 

Q13 Is there any age limit for applicants?
A13 There is no age limit.
